Daniel Penn Associates Selected as a “Prime” Business & Energy Sustainability Consultant

Hartford, CT. January 19, 2015 – Daniel Penn Associates (DPA) has again been selected by Northeast Utilities and United Illuminating as a consulting partner in support of their Energize Connecticut’s PRIME Program. The first contract was awarded in 2010. The PRIME program provides Connecticut businesses with an introduction to the benefits of adopting Lean techniques, with the goal of becoming more efficient and reducing the overall cost of electric energy. The PRIME program is managed by Connecticut Light & Power and United Illuminating.

PRIME stands for “Process Review to Increase Manufacturing Efficiency” and is a program within the existing Conservation & Load Management Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Services program of the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund (CEEF). CEEF’s PRIME Program originated in 1999 as an economic development initiative.

The PRIME Program teaches Connecticut businesses how to implement Lean manufacturing techniques (Lean). Lean streamlines the flow of work required to produce a product and allows the manufacturer to improve the quality of the product(s) produced, improve the efficiency of their production process, increase production and output, eliminate non-essential processes, reduce electrical energy costs, and minimize the environmental impacts of waste. Companies that qualify will receive Lean consulting efforts (“Kaizen events”) that will be funded in whole or in part by CEEF.

“This is an excellent program which helps companies not only to reduce electric energy costs, but more importantly to improve their operations, increase efficiency, and help keep businesses in Connecticut,” said Tony Rodriguez, President of Daniel Penn Associates. “This is a win-win situation for all concerned.”

Daniel Penn Associates has been successfully delivering Lean programs within the PRIME Program since 2010, and has helped more than 30 Connecticut manufacturing and industrial clients to eliminate waste, to improve processes, to operate more efficiently, to transform to a culture of continuous improvement, and to manage change. We understand that a sustainable Lean transformation requires more than simply deploying all the proven Lean tools and hoping for the best. Our focus with the PRIME Program is on delivering sustainable results by transferring knowledge and Lean know-how to the participants.

Daniel Penn Associates is a certified minority-owned and operated management consulting firm with a proven track record of helping clients improve operating and management performance, and drive down the costs of the supply chain.
