Daniel Penn Associates Selected as Racial Equity Education and Training Consultant by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments
Hartford, Conn., September 28, 2021 — The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) has selected Daniel Penn Associates, LLC (DPA), along with its lead consultant LeRoy Thompson, as a contractor that will offer Racial Equity Education and Training to the Council and its municipal members on a task order basis.
The contract calls for training and education programs which may include but are not limited to normalizing conversations about race, developing effective dialog to address policies and practices that limit the advancement of racial equity, racial equity introductory training, and addressing race relations in the 21st Century.
LeRoy Thompson, who serves as lead consultant for the contract, has extensive experience in serving COG jurisdictions in racial equity work. Using an eight-phase approach, Thompson equips organizations with a clear framework to address issues of inequity rationally and coherently – beginning with the examination of mindsets and recognition of the process in which a productive organizational climate can be developed, and of the clear business case for making inclusiveness and equity essential to an organization.
